This classic Friday night “Circle” show really kicked off the amazing ’89 festival with a bang. The Nitty Gritty boys are better than ever here and when the guests start rolling out the show takes on a new dimension. Highlights are New Grass Revival doing Hear Jerusalem Moan and Bruce Hornsby’s smokin version of The Valley Road where he trades monster licks with Bela Fleck, Mark O’Conner and Jerry Douglas. The tape flip before Lost River caused a few missed notes at the beginning of the tune. Another tape flip occurred during Will The Circle Be Unbroken.I always really enjoyed this tape. In my opinion the drums are too strong at times in the mix but I think the quality overall is pretty nice. – Dub Irie 5/28/2006

Notes: — The Way It Is contains Dark Star quotes here is another show from my master dat. as with the cohasset show, i didn’t do any editing other than tracking and fades at the beginning and end of the sets. and like cohasset, the show was relatively quiet as it was just bruce and bela, so the clapping was much louder than the music. i was going to normalize it, but again i left it as it is on the tape as to maintain the integrity of the show as it was perform
