9. Ride Mighty High 7/9/76
10. Palm Sunday 3/18/78

* with Alice Stuart on Vocals
** At around 7:23, some guy in the crowd yells, “Nice Ass Donna”; forever to be immortilized on tape as The “nice ass Donna” guy.

-With the season of Jerome (8/1 - 8/9) nearly upon us, I thought I might make a little mix and seed it. No biggie, these arent rare recordings or anything. I do prefer many of these versions, and think of them as being well played, and extremely energetic. Jerry at his finest!

-This is just a fun little mix….enjoy….Chris Davis (7/19/05)

—-Garcia Compilation (Volume 2)—-

1. Tore Up 11/15/76
2. Train to Cry 5/5/82
3. After Midnight -> 2/17/80
4. Eleanor Rigby jam ->
5. After Midnight (reprise)
6. Mississippi Moon 4/12/75
7. Sing Me Back Home 6/4/82
8. Positively 4th Street 12/21/79
9. Goodnight Irene* 4/21/82

*with Dr. John on piano

-My first Garcia compilation seemed to be popular, so here is another one. This one, of course, is with the blessing of the poo…thanks for the support, my friend… :) If the interest is there, more will follow. Enjoy…Chris Davis…(7/20/05)

—-Garcia Compilation (Volume 3)—-

1. Think 2/9/74
2. Someday Baby 7/8/73
3. Let It Rock 11/15/74
4. He Aint Give You None 8/24/74
5. The Harder They Come 11/28/74
6. Its No Use* 6/30/72
7. Roadrunner 2/5/74

*So far as I can tell, this is the first Its no Use. The Jerry Site seems to confirm this…

Without me intending it, this volume became a Garcia and Saunders compilation. Plenty more on the shelf, so many songs yet to cover, but I was just in a jazzy mood. The horns sound great! Look for more in a day or two. Enjoy! Chris Davis (7/21/05)

—-Garcia Compilation (Volume 4)—-

1. Ill Take a Melody 3/8/80
2. How Sweet It Is 2/12/80
3. Mission in the Rain 2/19/78
4. Tough Mama 1/27/76
5. Sitting Here in Limbo* 12/19/75
6. Masterpiece 2/29/80
7. Russian Lullabye 1/24/80

*There is some slight crackling at various points during Limbo. It is not terribly noticeable, but the headphones do make it more obvious. I added this anyway, because Nicky Hopkins plays his heart out on this one…

-This is by far the most mellow mix so far. Enjoy..Chris Davis (7/22/05)

—-Garcia Compilation (Volume 5)—-

1. Sweet Sunny South* 12/8/91
2. Off to Sea Once More 2/3/91

9. The Thrill is Gone 5/xx/92
10. Louis Collins 12/8/91
11. She Belongs to Me 5/xx/92
12. Eat my Dust*** 8/25/91

14. Jam Into Shady Grove** 3/xx/95
15. Shady Grove** 3/xx/95

*duet, with banjos
**with Tony Rice
***with Bela Fleck

-This started as an acoustic Garcia mix. It transformed into a Garcia/Grisman mix. I guess the other acoustic stuff will have to wait for another volume. Enjoy…Chris Davis…(7/23/05)

1. Shining Star 11/19/93

*final time played

-This is the “mature Jerry” mix I talked about. As usual, theres tons more I could add to this, but these versions are excellent! Enjoy…Chris Davis…(7/25/05)

-Welcome to “Saxophone Jerry”. Some great versions, the sax goes so well… The source on some of these is not the best sounding, but the sax work warrants the attention, so here it is…Enjoy…Chris Davis (7/31/05)

—-Garcia Compilation (Volume 9)—-

1. Sugaree 9/11/76
2. Stop That Train 8/22/76

7. Mission in the Rain 1/27/76
8. Mystery Train 7/9/76

-I went for quality on this one. These tracks are all silky. I had to make up for missed songs, and I was in the mood to do a 76’er…listened to this today, and it sounds very nice :) Enjoy…Chris Davis…(8/2/05)

—-Garcia Compilation (Volume 10)—-

01. Stagger Lee 4/21/82
02. To Lay Me Down 6/3/84
03. Valerie 8/23/82

Outside of the Grateful Dead, Garcia spent more time onstage with John Kahn than anyone else. So, I thought I might conclude the Garcia Compilations with a nice Garcia and Kahn mix. Enjoy…Chris Davis…(8/10/05)

Disk 2 Total Time: 47:56

This classic Friday night “Circle” show really kicked off the amazing ’89 festival with a bang. The Nitty Gritty boys are better than ever here and when the guests start rolling out the show takes on a new dimension. Highlights are New Grass Revival doing Hear Jerusalem Moan and Bruce Hornsby’s smokin version of The Valley Road where he trades monster licks with Bela Fleck, Mark O’Conner and Jerry Douglas. The tape flip before Lost River caused a few missed notes at the beginning of the tune. Another tape flip occurred during Will The Circle Be Unbroken.I always really enjoyed this tape. In my opinion the drums are too strong at times in the mix but I think the quality overall is pretty nice. - Dub Irie 5/28/2006
